Hello Internet, Chrissy Bean here, This week has been pretty productive in my toy collecting world and has put quite a dent in my not so full wallet, but has been worth the trouble. Before I get into all the fun cool stuff though seeing as this is my first blog about collecting in general I would just like to point out a few boring things that are a bit of a warning. Which I will put in bold so the ones who just don't care can skip over it because they're too cool for collecting warnings. |
I work a slightly above minimum wage job that I like enough to keep and live in an overpriced apartment that I actually dislike a bit and mostly live week to week my extra money almost always goes into dolls and collectibles, when I purchase dolls or toys it has a huge chance of ending up on a credit card that I slowly pay off. My family has decided that I need an intervention and they are completely correct but with my bad logical thinking I just counter with the fact that I have the least amount of debt in my entire family because I didn't go to college and have no student loans to pay back and that almost everyone in America has debt.
That aside I strongly urge no one to do what I do with a similar financial situation. I pay all my bills on time and am very careful about it, that doesn't mean I've never made the occasional calculating mistake for which I have learned, but overall I just strongly urge against collecting in splurges or else you might end up in some trouble.
Collecting is very addicting. The reasons behind my collecting are not only because the things I buy are the things I love, but because someday I hope they will help fund my future children's college or retirement which everyone should understand that this sort of investment can be very risky and hit or miss. So just make sure that collecting for that purpose is a risk you're willing to take, though I am fairly certain once something is out of production and no where in stores the chances of you losing money on that product are slim unless it is the most unwanted item around.
My biggest issue is that I collect a variety of things, which makes it that much harder to afford it all. So unless you are very rich and have no money issues you should think very carefully on your pursuit. Understand that I in no way encourage my own behavior in others and want it known that my actions are very IRRESPONSIBLE. Thank you. :)

SHOUT OUT TO MOM: I love my mom for being motherly enough to point out when I have a problem (which in fairness I already knew), she inspired me to put this warning up and also to slow down on the spending even though I'm not in a danger zone yet. The best mothers always worry even when their children are all grown up. Appreciate your mothers' advice and love! Even if you don't want to hear it! ( My Mom and I to the left <3 She's my role model and hero ) |
Okay, my weekly routine is fairly simple. I work 40 hours a week which isn't much but it is full-time, and in my spare time I check every single online store that carries dolls for the best prices every day, I do not buy something everyday, thank the lords, but I keep a close watch on Toys R Us, Amazon, Target, Walmart, Kmart, Gamestop, Disneystore.com, Ebay, and HOT TOPIC and occasionally places like Kohl's, Sears, and other various local department stores that may carry toys. At each of these stores I keep a close eye on Monster High, Ever After High, Star Wars (particularly the Black Series), Transformers, Lalaloopsy, My Little Pony, Equestria Girls, Funko POP! Vinyls, Disney Infinity, Amiibo, and great Disney dolls/toys. I also keep a close watch on these brands on Facebook and Instagram always looking and hoping at giveaways, I've never won, but I'm not complaining, just always grateful for the opportunity for something free and I have no problem working for and earning all the things I have, because then I can take pride in it.
So basically my daily searches take up a lot of time, almost like a second job that you don't get payed for but I am pretty much always in the "know" when a new doll is listed someplace and where I can find a certain doll at the cheapest price. Which brings me to the first item on my "haul" list this week. The Collector Draculaura doll that everyone had been waiting for I had been checking Amazon approximately 10 times a day for her to list which is why I knew it listed on the 8th and not the 9th as the Mommy and Gracie show on youtube seemed to think because that's when they posted their un-boxing video of the doll they received for free. (I absolutely adore the Mommy and Gracie show and I think if you are looking for a family friends toy update youtube channel you must follow them!) I certainly don't know everything but I do try to keep on my options and keep everyone I know that might care informed, and since I'm starting to blog I can start keeping you guys informed too!

So here she is, we've all seen pictures of her, she's absolutely gorgeous in my opinion, I've pre-ordered 2 so I can open one, which I probably shouldn't have done, but I've been waiting too long to pass her up. I can't wait until they arrive. If you are looking for her, she will be exclusive to Amazon for the time being, there are however rumors that she will hit shelves, but if you can't live without her I urge you to pre-order her or get therapy. I chose the latter. She is available for PRIME shipping, I normally wouldn't mention this, but if you are not an Amazon Prime member now is really good time to get it, because Wednesday July 15th Amazon is having a huge PRIME sale supposedly bigger than black friday that includes toys, electronics and video games. |
Nothing specific has been listed for this sale yet but it could be a great opportunity for you to get some hands on things you've been saving for with free shipping. For all we know the Draculaura doll could be included! I know I'm really looking forward to it, I have everything I could ever want in my cart all ready to see if any of it will be on sale Wednesday. Haha, I'm feeling pretty prepared.
Along with my pre-orders of Draculaura, I only recently discovered that the Novi Stars dolls are discontinued from the US making it pretty hard to get your hands on them, there are a few still listed on Amazon thankfully because I've always wanted one, though the one I really wanted was Doe A. Deer, is out of my reach and not worth 50 dollars on Ebay to me, I did purchase the very adorable Tula Toned and Alie Lectric. These will be the only Novi Stars I am likely to ever have and am so thankful for them. Also have not yet received, but will have photos in the Gallery when they arrive.

As many of you already knew today HOT TOPIC and Barnes and Noble had/has some SDCC exclusive Funko Pop! vinyls while supplies last, and for all we know they're already gone, but I had 45 Hot Cash to spend and so when I got the email my boyfriend and I decided to hit HOT TOPIC. Note: Barnes and Noble has the best prices on Funko Pops on a daily basis, I don't recommend going to HOT TOPIC for them for any reason other than exclusives and sales. Which as it happened they had exclusives and I had money off and ended up with a pretty large back of Funko POP!s. Not all of them exclusive but all ones I wanted. We did not end up going to Barnes and Noble, though I wish we had because I really wanted the Black Dalek from Doctor Who and K3PO from Star Wars. However, like always my funds only get me so far and I'm happy with my loot! Check it out below! Feel free to comment on my blog about anything!
