Birthday Gifts of Novi Stars + Review

8/24/2015

So, let me tell you a little story. Once upon a time, I fell in love with Novi Stars, especially a specific one that I couldn't get called Doe A. Deer, when I saw this doll I realized that MGA was no longer producing these dolls in the US and I thought I missed my chance to start collecting them, when I came across the older ones on Amazon and Ebay I got a few, but not all, and of course the new ones that I super wanted were just too much money.
When I saw the new ones like Doe A. Deer listed in a UK Toy shop called the Entertainer online I got super excited, but then immediately downcast when I realized they didn't ship to the UK, so I asked my Mom, whom has lots of cool friends, if she knew anyone there in a freakish desperation. She joked that I had a problem and had enough dolls, which is true so it shouldn't have been a joke MOM! Haha, so I decided to just check the site over and over until they would ship to me, and then suddenly my mom texts me a picture of Doe A. Deer and says HAPPY BIRTHDAY! while I'm at work and I start freaking out. I wanted to scream and stuff but the store was silent and customers were staring at me funny just for smiling too much.
So basically she said that her boyfriend David had friends in the UK and that my sister Collette said that's what they should get me for my birthday, and it was like a dream come true because all these guys that care about me came together to make my birthday wish come true! Fairy-tale ending is that they arrived just the other day and I got to Skype my mom whelst opening Doe.
My birthday box from the UK contained, 2 Doe A. Deer, Justina Hour, and Frostina Sprinkles. All ones I super wanted and love! Justina Hour has a clock on her head that when you wind it, it unwinds moving her eyes back and forth like a clock, and Frostina has legs filled with plastic colorful sprinkles and she's got the most awesome hair and eyes and is super sparkly like a girly cupcake of joy.

To the right is a slideshow of the boxes, and also of Ari Roma and the 2 Novi Star outfits my friend Sericea bought for me for my birthday, Surprisingly she found them at a local Walmart, I suppose there are still some on the shelves out there in the world!

It's my hope for the future that MGA will give the Novi Star dolls another shot in the US, for me!

Just look at the amazing box art!
Now for my Review on Doe A. Deer. What can I say aside from she is the best and most beautiful Novi ever made? Well for Starters, She is based on a Doe (NOOO REALLY?) which Deer are so beautiful and cute as it is, but she's also an alien girl, I just love the way formed this concept so beautifully. Her antlers are so detailed and realistic, and she even still has the antenna that all Novi's do, which I adore, only her antenna are rotate-able. She is painted a pale white that fades into a bronze like brown, Her hair is a pastel lilac shade just screams mystical, and a dress the color of an almost pastel olive that is layered to look like leaf layers with a beautiful pink flower at the hip.
Her shoes even have what I assume are meant to be a Doe "shoe" based on Horse shoes. Super cute idea and thinking there. Also This Novi has the single prettiest eyes ever that display a small deer in each pupil and she has pastel pink make-up. As for her feature, she really is soft and fuzzy like a deer! only on her legs but it almost makes it look like she has soft leggings on which I think is fun. I recommend her to everyone. Unfortunately she doesn't come with a stand, but I found that my Monster High doll stands seem to work just find.
Are there any dolls you wish would be more available to the US than they are now? Tell me about them in the Comments!

Miku Hatsune Pullip Review

8/24/2015

Hello Everyone! It's the day before my birthday and the present I bought for myself just arrived this afternoon. This is Hatsune Miku, the cutest vocaloid around. If you aren't sure who or what she is, in short she is a virtual/animated singer for a voice synthesizing program by Crypton. To my very limited knowledge she was the original "face" of the product, and has had hundreds of thousands of songs written for her. She even has live concerts where she is on stage which are so cool they're like my dream! Miku has also been featured in video games. She is not the only vocaloid however, there are many others, my second favorite is Megurine Luka!
I purchase this pullip doll via Ebay from bpzgap,  I bought this doll not even 4 days ago and already have it. So the shipping service is amazing and it was also free, with the doll only being 130 and receiving the box in excellent condition, was even packed well for shipping.
This is my very first Pullip doll ever. I prefer the look of Pullip over Blythe dolls, I think they are much cuter, but that is just me. This specific Pullip is 12" tall, her eyes can wink, you can make them both shut, and open you can move them side to side, all with little switches/buttons hidden under the back of her hair. It's super cool.
Her hair is super long and soft! and it was in great condition right out of the box though her pigtails were slightly lopsided, but that's an easy adjustment. I highly recommend not touching her square ponytail ties or the rubber bands that are actually holding them in. because they will be near impossible to get perfect again.
Just some extra info incase you are curious about this doll: She comes with a little card, a stand, 2 leaks that she can't actually hold but you can lay in her arms, and she actually has a pair of fabric panties on under that skirt! This was an awesome bonus to discover because I have literally never seen that before!
I did have a few manufacturing issues with my doll, In one of the last pictures in the slide above I took a pictures of the dolls stomach where you will see a super weird paint job in gray. I'm not sure if this is normal or if her skirt did it, but either way I can't seem to get it off her body and it's sort of sad, but that's not even the worst part.
There is plastic around these dolls hands keeping them safe so you have to remove them to get the plastic off so i did and I realized one of them was a little dented on one side but didn't think it was the biggest deal until i slipped it back into her harm.. it's in there so tightly that I can't even rotate her wrist or even take it out again. I pulled so hard that it's practically falling off it's hinge thing and I'm super depressed since I just got it today. Basically I'm not going to touch it again as long as I live and hope it just stays on.

These were all clearly some mistake in manufacturing and I'm not sure if its a normal thing, but for the money spent on these dolls you would think they would pretty much become perfect. Or am I wrong? Please comment about your experience with TOMY products. Have any of your dolls had these issues or other ones? I'd really love to know, because it could determine me ever getting another one.

Equestria Girls DJ-Pon 3 with Vehicle Review

This a review on the Toys R Us Exclusive DJ Pon-3 with her convertible. The doll and car can be bought separately. I ended up getting 2 of these exclusives so I could open one up just for you guys.
If you are fan of Vinyl Scratch like me you'll probably love this set as a collectible to keep in the box because let's face it, this is adorable even if we would have preferred her with a huge DJ set.
This set isn't particularly expensive, in fact it's currently been on sale at Toys R Us $16.98 instead of 29.99. I only recommend this exclusive opposed to the separate ones because it will actually save you money. The car without DJ Pon-3 is the exact same price at other stores. I've only seen this set online and not in my local Toys R Us which doesn't mean you won't find it at your local store. Free 2 day shipping with Shoprunner is always useful for online shoppers.
The box is pretty cute with a little background while DJ is driving upward on a road. Not a fan of pictures of random children on my boxes but I suppose that's supposed to be your glimpse at the free shades that are her cars windshield, but I do wish they hadn't added it to the front of the box, it ruins it as a display option for me.
On to the unboxing, I was so pleased when I began opening DJ and her convertible when I noticed they had done the most simple and easy packaging. It was seriously in place with 1 or 2 thick cord things, and a couple clear rubber bands holding DJ in place. just a couple snips and this car was ready to roll.
Look at the adorable art on the back! Once you open a side to the main box you can just slip out the backdrop piece that the car is attached to and at the bottom you can see the 2 spots to cut but you can easily cut them from the top too. The windshield is a pair of shades meant for younger children with smaller heads. Trust me I tried to wear them.             -------------------------------->
When I got this set I hadn't yet seen the DJ doll on it's own person so I wasn't sure how she was going to look. Like most of the Equestria Girl dolls she isn't ball jointed at all but she can obviously sit in the car and her shoulder joints move. In the slide show above you can see how her hands don't naturally set on the wheel you have to squeeze them into the wheel to make it look like she's actually driving which is a big silly but for the price it was sort of "alright then"
At first I thought her would have an opening trunk or something but it doesn't. you can fit 2 girls into the car and push it around and that's it, so the retail price of 29.99 is a bit high in my opinion since all you are really getting is a hollow light weight plastic car. I much would rather have had a more expensive remote control car or at least had her car hook up to an ipod with a cooler looking dj set in the back that lit up or had spinning things so she could be a real rockin DJ, but you know I don't get to make these toys so they'll never get to be as cool as I want ahaha.
    That aside I love the design of the car a lot, it's similar to my pinkie pie pony RC car that is remote controlled that I ADORE. just in Vinyl Scratch colors. I love both looks. Though the Purple Pony on the hood of this one is super epic compared to the yellow on Pinkie's car.       - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - --------->

I think that the DJ Pon-3 doll itself is the best part of the set, I was first confused by the fact that her shades and headset were a one piece accessory but then i realized that together they help hold her hair back like a headband and it still looked pretty cute. I was surprised at how adorable she was without this piece on her face though. They made her so cute, but she never looks like Vinyl Scratch without her DJ glasses and headphones. Best accessory on her though? DARK BLUE JELLY BOOTS!!!
Just some extra perks to this purchase. Ever After High dolls, Monster High dolls, and other Equestrial Girls dolls, pretty much all fit into this vehicle. Some characters may have shoes that are big like my Trixie doll, so I just removed them so she'd fit in easier.
Also if you aren't a kid, give your DJ shades to a Lalaloopsy doll! It fits like magic!
Basically this EG convertible is the jam, I make it the centerpiece to my dolls having a chill time. They all look like cool kids, don't you think?
And that concludes this review as a positive one. I highly recommend this to both children and collectors. I just love doll vehicles!

Fandom Fest Louisville KY 2015 Review

8/12/2015

Hey, I'm still alive! Let's face it you didn't notice me gone. This weekend My family came to visit me for the Comic/Anime Convention in Louisville KY and to see me of course, They just left this morning and It makes me sad but I'll hopefully see them again soon. Where to Start?! Well, my loving mother did 99% of the photography you'll see in this blog so if you didn't like it, just accept the fact you didn't have to deal with being a tourist with the awkward glances from regulars.
To the right is the official signs they had posted in the streets for the weekend event. I was really excited for this con because I thought there was a chance a to meet some of the famous people attentending but basically you'd have to be super rich to see them and get a crappy picture you don't get to take yourself or their signature on a piece of paper instead of an item of your choice. Basically this sort of thing was not an option for my family and myself, but the people I wanted to meet most cancelled anyway.
Now, what can you do at Fandom Fest for your basic 60 dollar ticket? Nothing worth paying for and that's the truth. The only thing I enjoyed was the Vendors Hall that you had to pay to get into with your ticket, by that time you have no money to buy anything so you just walk around and smile and hope some person likes your costume basically.
Picture
I got pictures with a lot of people and their cool costumes(above). I love seeing people's artistic abilities come to life to create our favorite characters of sci-fi, anime, and video games. It was really enjoyable, the vendors hall was huge and a lot of people dressed up, but not nearly as many as I thought and they had a lot of great options for shopping. The soul theme to this con seemed to center around Star Wars and Doctor Who, both of which I am insanely fond of so there wasn't an issue with that, but I truly expected more of a variety into the anime aspect. Basically the only anime lovers that would be happy in this hall would have been Sailor Moon fans and others may have found 1 or 2 figures or toys in something they liked. The only Vendor I bought from was a T-Shirt shop from which I got a total of 8 shirts between my brother and I for the extreme cleverness and cuteness.
My brother was Nausicaa and Kenshin, My sister was Super Girl, and I was Kiki, My mom didn't dress up but we pretended she was Shinji from Evangelion. (she looks it right? the short black hair, white shirt and jeans? No?!)
Picture
As for the Panel rooms in my personal opinion were for the most part a waste of time and terrible. To be fair of course I didn't have time to make it to all of them as there were plenty of them happening at the same time, but the ones I did go to during the day were rather amateur. The "Maid Cafe" was a huge disappointment, I wasn't even sure there was a point to it, though many seemed to be having fun but it would have been so much simpler for them to just set up a room with tables and chairs and serve coffee and tea and I would have been pleased with it.
My second upset was when I realized the guide for events said nothing about the cosplay contests and events. Only that they were on Saturday and to be honest even if it were too late to enter, I would have loved to see everyone enter and act out their skits, so that was a monster bummer. The organization was so lacking I couldn't believe this was considered a huge event because my hometown does a better convention than this on a smaller staff and less panels, they have bigger turnouts too.
Then I decided to give the Cosfluff panel a go because I thought the topic was interesting and that the panel would serve me new information that I didn't have before because every plus size girl knows what it's like to be self conscious and have a hard time with cosplay let alone everyday clothes. We show up and it's the most dry discussion. Basically they didn't give you any helpful sewing tips for different body types, they didn't have any specific stores to get your things. I could have done the panel 1000 times better in an improv performance. I was so frustrated it basically went like this "if you're fat its expensive to cosplay" duh we know, "if you're plus size you have to use more fabric" yeah we know "if you order clothes online, do it early to make sure it fits, watch those asian sizes they are smaller than we are" NOOO REALLY?! I couldn't understand why an entire panel room was wasted on this conversation that could have happened in the hallway. It seriously blew my mind and I began to wonder if there were any standard requirements for a panel room.
We left frustrated back to the hotel for some food only to come back later for the Who's Line is it Anime 18+ event because let's face it who doesn't love the show Who's line is it anyway? Well this was only half of a disappointment. The concept was there it was the best idea ever, unfortunately the people running it weren't that funny.. at all. Their knowledge on most anime was non existent, to the point where Pokemon was pretty much the only thing they knew well enough to make fun of. I'm sorry, you're titling your panel with Anime you should at least have the most common and popular animes over the past 10 years engraved in your brain, otherwise call it Who's line is it Pokemon. And then hire funnier people. Thank you. That doesn't mean I didn't get quite a few laughs here and there, but comedy panels should be making me laugh at least 50% of the show. Am I wrong?
Then they had a "hangout" room which blasted gangster rap music so loud you felt it in your chest.. which i may not have minded if at this time of night they had alcohol and a bar and a not so brightly lit dance stage where I only saw 2 girls wearing sexy costumes dancing which if your hot and want to flaunt it I'm totally supportive, but over all I don't like that sort of music and if I can't dance comfortably and I can't talk or sing along then I'm basically out. Point being if you are going to make a hang out area for the late nighters, give it a club feel and play bad ass music like anime themed our soundtracks to marvel movies and shit. It's not that hard or am I just insane?!
Now if you were at the con you will know that as soon as they closed the Vendor Hall Saturday Night NO ONE AND I MEAN NO ONE was checking for wrist bands, there was security but only the kind of security for out of control people which there was no drugs or alcohol and most con go-ers are pretty damn respectful and kind to one another. So really the panels were free if you went up the right escalator which only pissed me off more that I spent 60 dollars to come there.
Despite all this upset I truly did have a good time with my brother and sister we mostly talked about how we could have made the convention 200% better for every single person. They really should have made vendors free so they could make their money back for renting the spots with passers by coming to shop, and then made all panels wrist band only, mad the paid events at different times as the unpaid events so that everyone had a chance to see them. they had plenty of empty panel rooms and could have had more events happening at once which would have been smart to do especially for the amateur panels that could have been put up super early so if anyone actually wanted to go to them they could have woken up to see them. Then they should have asked the people doing the panels exactly what they were going to say and do in their event and only approve if it met their standard of badass convention!
The most important thing I needed to blog about however was the one and only panel worth having.. and it STILL disappointed me..... BECAUSE IT WAS TOO EFFING SHORT!!!! (Venom Rick Rollin above in video, my appologies for singing and laughing in the background) Karaoke.. 30 minutes.. 30 minutes for karaoke.. do you have any idea how effing stupid that sounds? They should have opened this event in the hang out room all night, it was the most popular event that I went to and the most fun, energetic, great crowd, absolutely mind blowing and it barely even got started before they shut it down. I wanted to scream at every single person that was in charge. There were like 8 plus empty rooms in the convention center and they were so stupid they couldn't say "wow people are really liking this, lets just move this to the hangout room, or move the next event to the room over while they continue to have fun, it might bring them back next time!" Yeah I guess people are to effing stupid to figure this out because I won't be going to FandomFest next time which really makes me sad. I truly wanted to come back here and write this awesome review encouraging everyone to throw down their money for this event, and I just can't. I apologize for that.
On a brighter note I stayed in the Galt House Hotel in Louisville KY instead of the Hyatt hosting the event and I just want everyone to know that it's cheaper, It's extremely classy, friendly, clean, great view, walking distance to the convention center. I HIGHLY recommend it if you want to save money for shopping at your next event there. Hyatt hotels are really nice and really expensive, but trust me Galt House made me very happy, I had more fun at my hotel than at FandomFest if that tells you anything. Above I put together a little slide shower of the pictures we took from out our room window and by the pool sitting area and in the room being awesome. Overall good vacation, FandomFest isn't a great con though.

Online POP! Haul

7/28/2015

So, last Tuesday at HOTTOPIC.COM There was a special deal on Doctor Who Merchandise, so of course I took this as my opportunity to get my hands on the Funko POPs I didn't have yet! I also saw that the Harry Potter Pops were released, so naturally I had to get those too. Luckily the Hot Cash thing they do actually does make a little bit of a difference considering their prices can sometimes be higher than others if you aren't shopping deals! They had all the Harry Potter online except Snape, and all of the Doctor Who I needed except the Evolving Dalek and the Adipose all of which I then ordered from GameStop.com.
Unfortunately I haven't yet received some of my GameStop purchases. I also ordered an R2B1 from them, and they sent me R2D2 which was frustrating but I decided I'd just have an open R2D2 to play with, I hope they actually send my other things, at this point I've become a little worried. Will have to give you guys the update on that one. So below behold my new collections! These are also my favorite collections right now.
Picture

I grew up on Harry Potter so it is so amazing that I didn't miss the release of these because I don't own anything cool that's Harry Potter themed. It's nice to have something to showcase my love for HP. Growing up it was Barnes and Nobile book release parties, and the Movies opening night, it was just a huge family thing for us and my fondest memories are of Harry Potter times. Last Christmas my Mom and I both bought one another the same thing... the bluray Harry Potter collection. IT WAS MEANT TO BE! We also loved listening to Jim Dale's audiotapes of the books that we'd check out from the library and listen to every single night... EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! LITERALLY!  We also manage to have a Harry Potter Marathon about every single month, but my all time favorite memory of Harry Potter is that after the Book Parties, we'd go home at like 1 AM all dressed up in our sad attempts at witch and wizard costumes, with our stick branch "wands" completely exhausted, and my mom would pull out snacks, root beer floats, and candy and read us the first chapter or two, and every night after she would read chapters for us and it was basically the most magical feeling ever.
I also grew up on Doctor Who, but not so intensely as I did with HP, I only ever got to watch the show at my Dad's house growing up because he had the BBC channel, but I just LOVED it, Naturally David Tennant, is my favorite doctor (10th) and Rose will always be my favorite companion to him because I cry like a sappy teeny bopper baby whenever I watch the episode where Rose is left behind by the Doctor and he doesn't get to say he loves her, and then I cry more when she gets her own doctor! I'm extremely excited because Billie Piper will be at FandomFest and I'm praying I'll get to meet her. I wish they had made companion Funko Pops because I would get one of Rose and ask her to sign it. Instead I'm going to ask her to sign my basic 10th Doctor one if I get a chance. Even the thought of telling her how much her performance moved me gives me the excites!
Of course when the 11th Doctor came around I was worried that I was going to HATE him because he was all hipster and the show suddenly got super popular and I thought to myself "oh great, now they are aiming to get a different crowd this is going to stink" so it took me a couple years before I caved and gave it a chance, and of course I fell in the love with the new episodes, but mostly for Amy Pond, Rory, and River Song. They really MADE the 11th Doctor, but I did love that he was funny and yet almost fatherly to Amy and Rory. But let's face it.. Their love story is mind blowing. I may not have been a fan of Amy in the beginning, but through out her time with the Doctor you can see how much she really does love Rory, but It's Rory whose love makes your heart hurt!

Anyway, I also went to Hottopic in person and we ended up getting even more POPs! Including some Guardians of the Galaxy and some more Star Wars ones.. Basically last week we spent a lot of money on Funko Pop. I also purchases the Hottopic excluive Funko AppleBloom vinyl of which I am in love with!!

From Guardians I got Ronan, Thanos, and the Collector. From Star Wars we got Jabba, Bousch Leia, Jawa, and Unmasked Vader, and Last but not least my Apple Bloom (forgive the beer bottle inappropriately displayed in that picture.. I just had to have a drink after spending so much money lol the stress!)
Overall, I'd say it's been a pretty productive purchase week. I would have blogged a lot sooner but I wanted to include pictures of my stuff for entertainment. New blogs will be coming soon. If there is any specific toy, movie, show, ect you would like me to review don't be shy, leave me a comment! Also if you're hosting a giveaway or contest I'd be happy to feature it here so feel free to contact me at any times with the contact forms in the about me section. Thank you!

Amazon Prime Day Review and Haul

7/23/2015

Prime Day was July 15th, a Wednesday, and was a day like a Black Friday sale for Prime members. For the most part it was a big disappoint in the Toy Field, only 2 video games worth getting in the gaming area, and everything else wasn't much interest to me but I'm sure there were great deals in Electronics and Home stuff because a lot of things were claimed pretty quickly. Claiming is adding an item to your cart, you get a couple minutes to purchase before your claimed item goes to someone else, but if you have an item people really want you really want to jump on the "add to cart" button pretty quickly because these deals appeared to be limited. You were also only able to claim one of each item which I found really great because it prevented people from overstocking for resale and such. A feature I greatly appreciate.
Aside from everything in the toy section being more for younger children and babies, there were a few things I was really happy to see including a number of the Black Series Star Wars figures of which I got 2, and the Monster High Astranova. A few Equestria girls and Disney dolls were on sale but I didn't claim any of them. I was however able to claim a SDCC exclusive from last year of Mane-iac Mahem and Spike. So behold my Prime Day Loot Below!
Picture
SDCC 2014 My Little Pony Mane-iac Mayhem and Spike the Dragon Figure Set 44.26 was 56.58
Monster High Boo York, Boo York Floatation Station and Astranova Doll Playset (22 something) was 44.88
Star Wars The Black Series Han Solo and Tauntaun 6 Inch Figures 28.97 was 42.40
Star Wars The Black Series Luke Skywalker and Wampa 6 Inch Figures (28 something, something) was 40.36

So the deals weren't tremendous, the best deal I got was definitely on Astranova, but with Collecting the Black Series it was nice to get a good deal on those two sets. The downfall is that the quality of my MLP exclusive's box is slightly dented which is a big pet peeve of mine since I keep almost everything in their original box. Everything else was in great condition.

I'm honestly so impressed with my Prime day loot, I was sitting at the computer as the seconds counted down adding them to my cart as fast as possible like it was a video game. I was super proud of myself, I even did a victory dance when I snagged Astranova. My boyfriend even played victory music for me as I payed for them, which may be stupid to some but bargains are always the highlight of my week, especially on the things I've been really wanting.
Next year I am likely to participate in this even again, but I won't expect much listings I'll want, it's just a matter of keeping an eye out for the good ones before they go away. I was lucky enough to have not found anything I wanted while I was at work. The only thing that could make this event better would be if they increased the amount of each item they had in stock for the event so everyone had a chance to get the great deals all day long and if they did that, that they then made the deals last longer than a couple hours and made it all day, but you know, I'm sure they have their reason.
I for one feel like I got the only things worth getting at this event in the toy department for which I am forever grateful. I did want that Black Series C-3P0 but it was gone so fast! I hope that all of you got the things you were wanting at this event, if not I apologize and wish you luck next year!

Draculaura Adult Collector Doll - Half Unboxed

7/16/2015

Picture
Adult Collector Draculaura Dolls came in the mail today. I would say "twinzies!", but they are clearly posed slightly different. Their hair is boxed different and their arms at different amounts of angle, but all in all they are both amazing! She just arrived today, the 16th of July, and I was so surprised to see her so soon. This blog will be about you can expect upon receiving your Draculaura! I did not completely remove her from her display box yet, because let's be honest, I just can't afford to. Do I want to really badly? Yes! Will I probably do it eventually anyway? More than likely.
For those of you who don't know, The Draculaura Adult Collector is available for purchase on Amazon only for the time being at 49.99 and is available for free prime shipping for members. And I promise you that she's worth it. I'm sure she'll be available for quite a while, but if you really want her I'd order her sometime soon unless you're waiting for a sale on her of some sort.
She will arrive in a box as shown to left, and when you open that box she will be wrapped neatly and professionally in tissue paper, you will notice her box is shaped like a coffin, super cool. The second thing I noticed is that her box is literally a box.. as in you take the lid off and then put it back on! The lid is sealed by only 2 pieces of tape on the top and bottom. I highly recommend that you DO NOT rip the tape off.
I tried to very carefully and still ripped the box a bit. Use a knife, key, or scissors of some sort and just slit the tape at the crease, especially if you want your box in excellent condition. Before taking my lid off, I took some time to admire her box, it's amazing, the only thing that would have made it better would have been if they had made it out of tin or some sort of solid material with textured sides, but this is by far the best MH box I've ever seen. they made it look faded or "old" like a vintage antique which is super great. Even the MH symbol is given this effect. It's even got cool drawn on handles on the side that a coffin would actually have, but again how cool would this have been if it were a solid box with real handles?  They even put an adorable bat on the top of her coffin.
And of course best for last, her box art. It's on the back of the box and it's designed sort of like a pendant with her portrait. The artist of this piece deserves some love. Draculaura looks like a stunning womanly vampire in this portrayal. I will keep this box forever. No lie. Thank you Mattel/Monster High for this super great collector doll and I am praying for me super amazing collector dolls down the line... PLEASE!
Now after I cut the tape from the box and lifted the lid magic happened! Not exactly but it was super exciting!
It's clear to see that the construction and design of this doll are freakishly fabulous. Draculaura is slightly taller than the other MH dolls and also seems to have a smaller head to make her more proportionally accurate in my opinion. Her style is unmatched by any doll made for Monster High by far. If I could have this outfit I would wear it for no reason! Her eyes are so cool, purple, with a pink streak in them with long soft eyelashes.. she has pointy-like ears which I adore. She truly embodies the daughter of Dracula. I felt her hair and it seems almost hairsprayed into place which I don't mind at all. If I ever take her out completely I'd want to re-do her hair a little better, no matter what you do, when you box a doll it's going to get it's hair ruined. Can't get around it, the hair spray or whatever they used really did a good job keeping that adorable bang curl of hers in place.
Now to get to Draculaura's cool diary, you just have to lift the tab on the box that says "pull" Very simple, the piece that Draculaura is attached to is not connected in any way to the bottom of the coffin box therefore making this pretty easy!
Her diary is so cute, it almost looks like a little comic book. There are entries that I did not take pictures of because my camera didn't want to focus on the font in it, but there are adorable pictures, and doll photography that I really enjoyed looking at.
You can see that they really didn't use much to tie Draculaura into her coffin, which I love because I'm not the biggest fan of over-packaging. Again I didn't remove her from her backing, but I wanted to show you guys what you should be getting right now in the MH world!
I hope this review/almost unboxing was useful and fun for some of you. I hope you all go out and get yourself this doll because even if you don't collect Monster High dolls, and just love them, she is a true joy to have. Here's hoping for more Adult Collectors! Buy this one so they know how great of an idea it is to make more collector dolls! You know you want to!

Jane Boolittle Unboxing

Jane Boolittle was my first Monster High doll to unbox, I got her because I adored her character a lot and she looks like a Jungle Princess. She is the daughter of Doctor Boolittle and she's shy in a crowd of other monster, but she just loves animals! I also decided that I would open her when I got a second one at Kmart for super cheap. I believe 9 dollars on their site. (Note to collectors: keep a close eye on kmart.com, they will fool you with their regular prices on dolls/toys, but out of no where their dolls will drop down to 9, 7, 6, and sometimes even 5 dollars!)
Picture
Here is Jane beautifully boxed, I love that her pet Needles, who is a sloth, is hanging onto her staff. It's super cute. The coloring on her box is super amazing. I love the fiery red, black, and purple look. Her cardboard backdrop almost reminds me of a King Kong jungle setting which I really like as well as the feature of it looking as though she has just crossed the bridge behind her. This box really stands out to me, just looking at it sets your mind into creative story mode. I can just imagine her crossing the bridge the with Needles and preparing to defend herself and friends against a dangerous beast with her awesome staff.
Boxed Jane is a complete win, they even made her super kick-ass in her artwork and created an animal print like design along the top. I'm not personally a fan of animal print, but it really suits her.
It's almost a tragedy to destroy the art of this boxed doll, but luckily I have two! Mwahaha.

I was so excited I basically ripped her out of the box and tossed it aside. The boxing on Monster High dolls has gotten a lot better and less wasteful, especially on the Freak du Chic line. She was simple to open, I had no casualties. the first thing I was surprised to discover was that her staff is a marker, I thought that was a pretty cute idea not that I planned to use it, but I'm sure kids would like it a lot. The second thing I really loved to figure out was that Needles can hang on her back like a backpack and has a slit in his back for small things. Maybe a penny, the slit is sort of useless because there isn't much you could fit inside of him, and putting something in him might mean you won't get it out because the plastic there feels pretty stiff.
Jane has lilac purple skin which is new, so it really made me go "ooo ahhh" when I opened her. I think her character is excellently color coordinated There are mulitple shades of red, purple, and blues and they all fit really nicely. her style is definitely one of kind, and she really fits into her own category.
In the slideshow above you can see that I magically got her to stand on her own, She comes with a stand of course, because I'm not sure she was meant to stand by herself, but if you set her up just right she seems to like standing around without any help, which is awesome, because lets be honest no one likes to see stands in doll photography. you can see that her pet Needles is hugging on her back and that she is hold her stylish back. He hair isn't as crazy in the back as I had hoped but that's what happens when doll's hair is tied to the back of the box, it simply tampers with the style, but fortunately her hair bump on top is in really great styling and will more than likely never wash her hair because I don't was to ruin it's beauty!
The first big flaw I noticed in my doll is that her hands and upper arms were pretty weak, sometimes they didn't want to support her bag, but they really didn't want to hold her staff, i was only able to get her to hold it in weird ways. I super wish that they had made her stall a stand to help her stand on her own or something, but unfortunately her staff is almost useless when it comes to posing it with her. It's such a huge part of her look it made me sad to realize the pen would just have to sit aside.
What is really cool though, is that her purse actually opens if you want to put a small trinket inside or even some of her accessories! Her bag is my favorite part of this dolls extras honestly, I would probably purchase it, if it were a real purse.
Overall, If I had only purchased one of her I would have been happier keeping her in box as a collector item because I think I enjoyed her a lot more in her box instead of open when I realized I couldn't get her to hold the staff well. She is a beautiful doll, and I'd only recommend opening her if it's for your kids to play with. Not the best for photography, but really beautiful to have on display. Love her.

Novi Stars Unboxing

Hey Strangers, I finally received my first 2 Novi Stars dolls ever. I bought these because I had always thought they were adorable and never had the chance to pick one up and when I recently thought about them I discovered that they were no longer in production for the US. Of course I desperately wanted Doe A. Deer which is the most adorable Novi I have ever lay my eyes on, but instead I purchased Tula Toned and Alie Lectric. I did not end up opening Alie, and I'll explain why after we open Tula!

Picture
Above is the doll I purchased to the right is the doll I received. Practically perfect except the Goo in her legs was smaller and even instead of up past her knees and lopsided. I didn't think much of this at all and figured I didn't care much and that it was probably common in production for such a little error. The box I received was actually slightly dented which is why I decided to open her first, as my Alie doll box was in perfect condition, plus I was intrigued by Tula's wings and tail and cute bat-like friend!
Picture
The second I received Tula in the mail I was so excited and happy because she was so little and cute like an alien fairy and I wanted to open her up right then and there, of course I didn't and waited to have time to take photos as I did it, but at first glance I saw nothing wrong with her. The box looked relatively easy to open and was just super cool with all the art and hoped I'd be able to keep it. So as I begin opening the box I realize it's held together by tape, scotch tape in most places which I found to be very odd but hoped for the best. First I removed the lid with the handle and got super excited that it might be a re-closable box, it turns out the perfectly made lid was pointless, at least the handle is a headband for kids!
The box looked so simple and easy on the outside, but once you get started, you really don't know where to start, so after the removal of the lid I began going slowly down the sides removing the tape and plastic pieces, it eventually sort of unfolded like a poster, but I had to forget about saving the art because the tape completely ripped it despite all of my efforts. After this there is a lot of random plastic pieces and points to cut by the dolls hair which made me incredibly nervous and i felt some of the ties were pointless not to mention they permanently dented her hair unless you want to wash it, which I don't because the top is style so cute. Secondly her head was tied so tightly to the plastic that I actually decapitated her and freaked out thinking I broke her.
Once all her parts were free I attempted to re-attach her head which was clearly not intended to come off but eventually popped back into place, all the while she lost an arm in this process, which went right back into it's socket. This feature I love because it made it easier to remove her dress when I realized it was wet. Frantically I removed her dress assuming there was a leak and set her onto a towel. I washed her body off and hoped I would find where the leak was coming from (more than likely her legs filled with goo) but nothing came out... I dab dried her dress the best I could which was showing up on the towel in blue so I assume that's were the extra goo in her legs went, though I'm not sure how it escaped because I still can't find any punctures or holes in her legs. maybe they will show up eventually. As I type this though my hands are still a bit sticky from touching the dress even though I've washed up so many times... it's like when you get butter on your hands and you can't get that gross feeling off of them!
I did discover that her dress was wet before I opened her which is actually visible in a picture I took of her so it was definitely a manufacture mistake, I'm not sure if this happened to anyone else though? (comment if it did please? And if you found out what caused it?) Below are the photos from my unboxing!
Over all, I would say because of the damaged box and the leak somewhere in my doll that Tula Toned was not worth the money I payed at all. However in perfect condition I may have bought her for about 20 dollars. I payed about 28 for her, I'm still very happy with my purchase and love her for my own personal reasons. I think the boxing on these dolls are a bit weird. I do wish they would release some that were ball-jointed or more pose-able. As far as originality, style, cuteness, visual, ect., I think they have a 10/10. I didn't much like the Novi Stars show it was really aimed toward really young kids, but the dolls I can appreciate a lot. The eyes are gorgeous, I love the pointy ears they make me think of fairies, this particular doll has wings and a tail, features that I've always wanted in a doll. Ears were the bonus for sure.
I do love that most of the Novis come with a pet, It's a simple addition that can make a big different. I also really admire their doll stands that glow in the dark, though i wish my doll didn't have to be wearing her shoes to stand in it, the concept is amazing to not have a stand that goes around the dolls waist or between the legs. So kudos for that idea.
Due to my complications with Tula, I did for the time being decide not to open Alie Lectric. I love her a lot and her feature, but her box is just so cute. Here are the photos I have of her. so far she gets a 10/10.
So, Do you like the Novi Stars? Do you have any? What do you like or dislike about them? Do you wish they would bring them back the US officially? I know I do. Comment Below!
